JULIAN MEAGHER | fine artist
After training as a surgeon, Meagher committed to a career as a fine artist after studying Atelier in Tuscany, a technique used by the great masters.
Meagher’s paintings are oils that read like water colours, with an ongoing exploration into the many guises of Australian masculinity, juxtaposed by pop-culture references that continue to infuse his work.
Reaching the finalist selection in the prestigious Doug Moran Portraiture Prize several times, Meagher has held solo exhibitions across Australia and Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Miami and Los Angeles, and will show again at Melbourne Art Fair in August 2014.
