New works by independent Australian designers & makers – ID. is founded and curated by Anne-Maree Sargeant.
Launching in 2015 as the most popular features of DENFAIR, ID. was awarded Honourable Mention for best stand at DEN Awards. Returning for the second edition under the curatorial theme – LUMINIOUS – ID. X THE SNAP fresh faces, new brands and new work in a celebration of Australian design.
ID. X THE SNAP introduces first time exhibitors Eugenie Kawabata, LUI by Luke Rogers, ZERO in DAO by Ka Li and Jim Shen, and SO WATT by Sydney-based industrial designer Jonathan Biet; exhibiting with LAB DE STU co-founder Andre Hnatojko with LAAL – an inter-disciplinary design label fusing Andre’s furniture design skills with sister Lydia Hntojko’s architectural background. Alex Fitzpatrick (ADesignStudio) and Coco Reynolds (MARZ DESIGNS) exhibited in Milan before returning to Melbourne with a new lighting collections.
ABOUT ANNE-MAREE SARGEANT // aka AMS
Anne-Maree Sargeant is a Sydney-based writer, curator, creative producer and design advocate, as director of the AUTHENTIC DESIGN ALLIANCE – an education platform supporting and promoting original design, AMS also founded and curates ID.
As former Editor-at-Large of BELLE Magazine, creator of the THE SNAP ASSEMBLY blog and initiator of the design mecca SPACE Furniture, AMS has attended international design fairs since first visiting Salone del Mobile/Milan Design Week in the 1980s.

ID. featured again this year in Melbourne at DEN FAIR. Supported by AUTHENTIC DESIGN ALLIANCE, the installation of 21 invited design studio and brands to showcase new works over 3 days to Australian design professionals.
Dennis Abalos JACARANDA LIGHTS and GREENWAY by Alex Fitzpatrick _ADesignStudio were standouts in Neale Whitaker’s top 10 from DEN.
GREENWAY was awarded best INDEPENDENT DESIGN from an esteemed judging panel that included Andrew Parr, SJB; Miriam MIM Design; and Juliette Arent ARENT & PIKE – for the combined brass, mouth blown glass, and 3D printed element, the pendent lighting series combining a choice of diffusers around a concealed LED light source.
SMOKEY STICKS by Christopher Boots were commissioned by HERMES Vancouver for the coveted holiday windows ARTISTES VITRINES – the Australian debut for the very limited edition aged brass and smokey quartz floor lamps.
RUBBISH STOOL by Peter Trimble was formed from a van full of waste polystyrene packaging that was heat shrunk in an experimental process that ultimately produced a functional stool. Commissioned by 1-OK Club – RUBBISH previewed ahead of the second 1-OK exhibition in association with ASSEMBLE PAPERS magazine.
BAMBOO BENCH previewed in Milan at Rossana Orlandi prior to showcasing at ID. with DEZION STUDIO by Asher Abergal.
Melbourne lighting designer unveiled his latest project, with LEAFY SEA DRAGON proving one of the most popular products at DENFAIR. The hand made, organically formed pendant can be hung indoor or outdoor and either vertical, angled or horizontally.
ID. x THE SNAP was founded by curator and creative producer Anne-Maree Sargeant following the departure of NEST Independent Design installation she created for defunct trade show designEX. ID. features new furniture, lighting and object by an invited selection of industrial designers, design studios, makers and craftspeople.

ABOUT DEN FAIR // Australia’s leading design exhibition.
DEN FAIR launched in May 2015, showcasing a tight edit of new furniture, lighting, art, object and interior design products, an exhibition targeting interior design and building professionals.
The second edition of DEN FAIR was held June 2-4, 2014 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Southbank, attracting almost 7,000 visitors over 3 days.

ID x THE SNAP 2015 REVISITED
BEZEL (above) with CONSTELLATION (top) by ANAESTHETIC – awarded BEST INDEPENDENT DESIGNER by an esteemed judging panel that included Kerry Phelan, Miriam Fanning and Jeffrey Copolov at DEN FAIR 2015 – winning a sponsored exhibition space at DEN FAIR 2016.
ARCHIER debuted HIGHLINE lighting, their appearance at ID. x THE SNAP securing a collaboration with Rakumba Lighting at DEN16.
UP/DOWN series by BEN-TOVIM DESIGN, exhibited the new ROUGH DIAMOND CHANDELIER – nominated by Vogue Living editor in chief Neale Whitaker has his favourite independent Australian design at DEN FAIR 15 (source SUNDAY TELEGRAPH newspaper).
LIGHT GARDEN by Alex Fitzpatrick, presenting the first metallic installation in brass, product development curated by AMS / THE SNAP.
